Brightspace LMS

D2L Brightspace is SUNY’s new learning management system (LMS) and hub of the SUNY Digital Learning Environment (DLE).

Fall 2023 Timeline

  • March 1: Brightspace sandbox spaces and Brightspace Fundamentals course open to faculty
  • March 22: Fall 2023 Brightspace courses become available to instructors
  • August 24: Fall 2023 Brightspace courses become available to students
  • Future: Access to Moodle will remain available through Fall 2025, from on-campus and via OpenVPN only.

Accessing Your Courses

Once logged in to our tenant of Brightspace, your courses will be organized by semester at the top of the “My Courses” widget.

Moving Content from Moodle to Brightspace

Faculty will be able to decide the best path forward for moving courses from Moodle to Brightspace. We have outlined some key considerations and workflows so that you can choose the option that works best for you and your course materials. Please note that Moodle is only available to faculty members connected to the Purchase College network, either from on-campus or remotely via OpenVPN.

Access to Moodle will remain available through September 2025.

Brightspace Training & Resources for Instructors

SUNY DLE Brightspace Fundamentals Asynchronous Modules

All instructors have been enrolled in the SUNY DLE Brightspace Fundamentals Asynchronous Modules course at SUNY’s tenant of Brightspace. Simply login to Brightspace to access the training modules. Look for the course in your “My Courses” widget > “CPD Pilot Semester.”
