Purchase Joins Renewable Energy Consortium
Purchase College joins 19 New York colleges and universities to purchase large-scale aggregated renewable energy. -
Purchase LEED Building Requirement
Purchase commits that all new construction and major renovation projects on campus are to be built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver standards or beyond. -
Purchase’s Innovative Thermal Energy Storage Project
The Phys.Ed. building will be the site for a new combined heat and power project funded by Israel-US Binational International Research & Development Foundation, NYPA and Brenmiller of Israel -
Energy Efficient Lighting Project Reduces Greenhouse Gas Emissions
The New York Power Authority (NYPA), in partnership with the SUNY, has completed the installation of energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the Purchase campus, including outdoor street lighting and in several buildings.
Ways To Get Involved
- Follow CTS’s recommendation to continue using electronic documents when possible, and to only print things that must be on paper.
- Get involved with students organizations such as Green Fee Council, FreeNew, FreeStore, and The Rocket Compost, among others.

What Else We’re Doing
- The Wayback Residence Hall, completed in August 2019, received its official LEED Silver Certification.
- Purchase is addressing the campus’ aging electrical systems.
- The Purchase Physical Education building will be the site for a combined heat and power (CHP) demonstration project.
- Purchase hosted the 2019 Partners for International Research and Education (PIRE) Academy that supports international partnerships that address critical science and engineering problems in a global context.
