What We’re Doing

Purchase Helps Divert Unwanted Paint from Landfills
Working with GreenSheen, a leader in paint recycling, thousands of cans were dropped off by community members.

Purchase LEED Building Requirement
Purchase commits that all new construction and major renovation projects on campus are to be built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver standards or beyond. -
Mobile Food Pantry
Once a month, in partnership with Feeding Westchester, a Mobile Pantry will visit campus to bring fresh protein, dairy, produce, and grains to campus community members in need. -
FreeNew & FreeStore Promotes Reuse
Campus community can donate salvageable possessions such as furniture, clothing, office supplies, etc. for student use

- Join student organizations such as: GreenFee and NYPIRG, among others
- Volunteer with FreeNew/FreeStore
- Apply to be a Rocket Compost Master

- Purchase offers classes related to clean energy. Check out courses in Environmental Studies, and Liberal Studies, to learn more.*

- CTS manages hardware life cycles responsibly & properly disposes of e-waste
- PSGA initiated Green Peace sustainable menstrual product drive
- CTS embraces virtualization, cloud and centralization to reduce carbon footprints
- Student services offices promote the use of digital materials over physical
- Facilities and many other offices across campus reuse supplies and furnishings as much as possible
