There are appeals for adjusting your current financial aid eligibility and reinstating your eligibility if it has been lost.
Adjust your financial aid eligibility:
Appeal to be considered Independent Students who are under the age of 24 can appeal to be considered dependent for Federal Financial aid purposes if there is an unusual situation that prevents you from residing with your parents.
Special Circumstances This appeal allows our office to replace the income originally reported on FAFSA application with your family’s current income which may result in additional financial aid eligibility.
Reinstate your financial aid eligibility:
Federal Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Appeal This appeal allows a committee to review unusual circumstances that prevented a student from performing well academically. If approved the student will regain eligibility for federal financial aid.
Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) Waiver
Students can complete this waiver if they have unusual circumstances that prevented them from doing well academically. *Please reach out to the Registrar’s Office for updates.
Excelsior Scholarship Appeal Form
Students may appeal to NYS Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) directly by filling out this form in the case that they have extenuating circumstances. *Please reach out to the Registrar’s Office for updates.
Excelsior Income Eligibility Determination Form
Students whose current income of prior year adjusted gross income is $125,000 or below due to extenuating circumstances may request a review of their eligibility by completing this form and uploading directly to https://www.hesc.ny.gov/ExcelsiorDetermination.
Excelsior Scholarship Eligibility Review
Students can appeal to NYS Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) if they:
- Took a break in attendance
- Did not meet the credit requirements
