Gender Inclusive Housing
Gender Inclusive Housing provides students the opportunity to occupy a safe space housing option that does not require all room/apartment-mates to be of the same legal sex.
The Gender Inclusive Housing Option brings together individuals as part of a welcoming and inclusive community.
This option is open to all members of the campus community regardless of sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
Requirements
Students applying for Gender Inclusive Housing will select this option when filling out the questionnaire that follows the license agreement.
All students who you are interested in living with must answer the gender inclusive question the same.
During the room selection process if you selected Yes to Gender Inclusive housing you will only see spaces that are labeled for Gender Inclusive Housing.
If you selected NO to Gender Inclusive housing you will only see same gender spaces during selection.
Important Note
Students in gender inclusive housing areas that are not filled (rooms, apartments, etc.) can receive a student of any gender to fill the space.
Please contact RSL@purchase.edu for questions concerning this process.
While you do not have to have a four-person group to attain this housing, our department has to ensure that we are truly creating a safe environment for those students who choose to live within this housing community. If you select a space that is not filled, you may be moved in order to fill another gender-neutral area.
