Congratulations on your acceptance to your study abroad program!
Next Steps
Per Program
Semester Exchange:
By the time you receive your acceptance, your course pre-approval form should already be signed by your academic advisor and submitted to the registrar. If not, this should be the absolute first step you complete; then start working on the post-acceptance documents through Horizons, including submitting your passport information, emergency contact and Student Health Form.
Summer/Winter Faculty-Led:
Complete the Agreement and Acceptance of Risk for Study Abroad form (AAR) you received in your acceptance email to signal your commitment to participating in the program.* Once you have committed to the program, follow the instructions you received via email to complete the remaining post-acceptance documents through Horizons, including submitting your passport information, emergency contact and Student Health Form. The due date for the post-acceptance documents can be found in the logistics email.
*Withdrawal from the faculty-led program after submitting the AAR form and after the program commitment deadline stated in your email, will result in a $200 Program Cancellation Charge.
Submit your acceptance letter to your ‘Non-Purchase Study Abroad Programs’ application to gain access to the mandatory ‘Study Abroad Pre-Approval’ form to be submitted to the Registrar’s Office before the end of the semester. This is necessary to transfer the credits taken on your study abroad program to Purchase College.
Students must take all examinations as scheduled by their host institution. Special assessment arrangements for visiting students are not acceptable on a routine basis. Semester students are expected to stay through the maximum period possible (i.e. to the end of exam period in May, June or July) and take all exams offered to less than full year students. For more information on transferring credits visit our Study Abroad Grades and Transcript page.
Summer/Winter Faculty-Led Programs:
Upon the start of the program, it is not possible to drop any of the study abroad classes you are registered for. The add/drop period for a 15-week semester is not applied to these 3-6 week long programs.
