Guided tours for any age or self-guided visits for high school groups
Each school visit to the NEU is unique. We are flexible and focused on designing a museum experience that connects our African, Modern, and Contemporary art directly to the curriculum objectives and learning standards of each visiting teacher and class.
Our goal is to help students develop an appreciation for visual art by creating—through close looking and inquiry-based techniques—a descriptive dialogue that leaves a lasting impression.

Pre- and Post-Visit Resources
The Neuberger has created a series of asynchronous learning resources that are appropriate for use in elementary, middle, and high school classrooms. Designed by Diana Puglisi, Curator of Education, alongside volunteer museum educators, the resources can be used before and after your visit.
The Neuberger Museum of Art’s Volunteer Museum Educators welcome visitors and help them appreciate the art collections presented in our galleries. The art comes alive as you walk the Museum with a guide and hear the stories behind the artists and works on view.

The Neuberger’s Volunteer Museum Educators (VMEs) bring the works in the Museum’s collection to life during 60-minute in-person tours for PreK-12 school groups and adults. Energetic, flexible, and art-loving individuals, VMEs easily adapt guided tours to the specific interests of each group so visitors can better connect with the artworks on view.
Museum staff develop and implement educational programs under the umbrella of The Phillip and Lynn Straus Center for Education in the Arts. These programs serve diverse audiences and establish the Neuberger Museum of Art as a regional center for curriculum-based art education.
