Methodology

Our digitization program here at the Library seeks to provide a modern gateway to scholarship unique to our SUNY campus.

The DCC adheres to digital conversion and preservation methods that are widely accepted as best practice in the library and archive communities. All digitized works have been selected based on uniqueness to the Purchase campus, scholarly need, and a baseline of conversion criteria. The office is also responsible for the lifecycle management of objects (i.e.  creation, remastering, and digital storage), and for the ongoing preservation of analog materials that have been digitized (i.e archival storage). All materials are cataloged in their appropriate content management system and made discoverable to students, staff, and faculty.
