Safety and Security
Our approach to keeping you safe is ongoing and dynamic. Sure, like other campuses, NYSUP patrols the grounds and residential life areas 24/7, but we also listen, so that we can provide the programs and services you need to feel secure.
From self-defense classes and safety-awareness workshops, to volunteer opportunities (like our student-run EMS), Purchase is committed to your personal safety.
True, we’re very close to NYC, but our 500-acre footprint and rambling facilities help us keep that feeling of a small, safe liberal arts college.
Campus Police
The New York State University Police (NYSUP), our full time, year-round law enforcement agency, serves the campus community in a professional, caring, and compassionate manner. NYSUP officers provide security at events, host defense classes, offer safety tips, and generally keep our community secure.
Reports, Logs, and Records
NYSUP provides an easy and confidential way for students to file an incident report whenever needed. They also provide records to the public through a Monthly Blotter, Annual Security Report, and Police Bulletin.
Emergency Response
The college has guidelines for all major emergency situations. Our emergency response reference guide details what students, faculty, and staff should do when faced with an emergency.
