Explore professional, conservatory-style training in acting!
Grades 9–12
Study the craft of acting taught by an experienced professional! In this hands-on, conservatory-style intensive, you will learn a variety of acting techniques that develop the crucial skills of building characters, heightening self-awareness, and exploring a wide emotional range.
Discover not only how to express yourself individually, but also how to work collaboratively, as an ensemble, gaining leadership skills and learning mutual respect while having fun!
In addition, movement, voice and speech, and text analysis allows you to immerse yourself in scene work, monologues, and improvisation.
Students will leave with a confident sense of themselves, and a solid technique and approach to future work.
Typical Day
Morning
The entire group warms-up each day with instructor. This session includes physical warm-ups with movement, improv exercises, vocal exercises, and focused meditation.
Morning Sessions
Students rotate between improvisation classes and rehearsing scenes and monologues.
Lunch
12:30 – 1:30pm
Afternoon Sessions
Continuing rehearsals and the process of discovery of scenes and monologues. Various acting training techniques, tactics and exercises will be incorporated.
A visit from the Director, Conservatory of Theatre Arts is a highlight in the program, where the students hear about Conservatory Acting Programs and the audition/admissions process.

YTH 9155 / Performing Arts Institute
Four Weeks over Session I & II: June 30 - July 25, 2024*
Monday – Friday, 9:30am – 3:30 pm (19 sessions, *no classes Friday, July 4)

Institute Certificate
Students enrolled in the Performing Arts Institute who have attended at least 80% of the classes, are eligible for a certificate of completion which acknowledges the successful completion of 60 hours of prescribed coursework.
