The new Illustration Concentration is designed to develop your skills in visual storytelling, digital and traditional illustration, and motion-based media. Blending foundational techniques with emerging technologies, this program encourages artistic exploration and creative innovation.

Whether you are drawn to editorial illustration, branding, animation, or experimental visual narratives, you’ll gain the tools to bring your ideas to life. From mastering hand-drawn techniques to pushing the boundaries of digital illustration and motion design, this concentration prepares you to navigate the evolving landscape of contemporary visual culture.

Expand Your Creative Toolkit

Develop your portfolio and expand your creative and technical skills through hands-on experience in artistic, commercial, and client-driven illustration, digital tools and software, frame-by-frame animation, and sequential storytelling (comics, graphic novels, and storyboarding).

Through a mix of core and elective courses, you’ll build the experience you need for careers in publishing, advertising, entertainment, and emerging media.

Students must be enrolled in a School of Art+Design major.


Students must apply to the Illustration Concentration. Once accepted, they will enroll as Graphic Design majors with an Illustration concentration.
