Scholarships and Awards
Thanks to the generosity of the Strypemonde Foundation, Purchase College’s Art History MA program has been able to provide students with funded teaching, curatorial, and research opportunities rarely found outside PhD programs. These experiences enhance students’ training, making them more marketable upon graduation.
All applicants and current students are invited to apply for fellowships, assistantships, and merit-based scholarships.
The Strypemonde Fellowship for Teaching Excellence
The Strypemonde Fellowship for Teaching Excellence supports the training and work of discussion-section instructors for undergraduate courses, including Survey of Art History. Small discussion sections are essential to undergraduate success in the large lecture. They also provide important teaching experience for MA students, many of whom hope to pursue teaching in some form upon completion of their degrees.
Strypemonde Writing Mentors
Strypemonde Writing Mentors are trained in tutoring academic writing and assigned to writing- intensive classes to provide support for undergraduate writing projects. They also work closely with graduate students and faculty mentors on the MFA thesis show catalog.
Strypemonde M+ Fellowship
Established in fall 2019 to be awarded annually to students, the The Strypemonde M+ Fellowship is awarded to students pursuing the M+ (Museum + Curatorial Studies) track of the MA program. It supports their work with faculty and the Neuberger Museum of Art as they assist in coordinating museum-based learning and organizing the capstone exhibition in Museum + Curatorial Studies.
Assistantships and Scholarships
In addition to named fellowships, the Strypemonde fund also supports scholarships awarded on the basis of need and merit, as well as research and grading assistantships for graduate students working closely with faculty.
