Current Resident Artist
Clare Koury (Spring 2025)
Clare Koury is a multidisciplinary artist, educator and researcher whose work explores the intersections of natural phenomena, material transformation and historical memory. Drawing on a deep engagement with geomagnetism, bioenergetics, pre-Abrahamic Levantine spirituality and the esoteric sciences, she weaves connections between physical and metaphysical realms within the context of contemporary American consumer culture. Her projects—ranging from large-scale infrastructural interventions to geo-spiritual cartography to Tiktoks—delve into humanity’s evolving relationship with the cosmos and emergent possibilities in the wake of rapidly deteriorating narrative paradigms here on earth.
Currently based in New York City, she teaches at UConn and has exhibited at institutions including Randy Alexander Gallery, the Fall River Museum of Contemporary Art, Canary Test, The Jewish Museum and Produce Model. She was the 2021 Windgate fellow and resident at Josephine Sculpture Park in Frankfort, Kentucky and is the recipient of the Windgate Fellowship at Purchase College for Spring 2025. Her solo exhibition at Blade Study opens in April 2025.
