Acting BFA Program
The curriculum is structured and the faculty is committed to preparing Conservatory students for lifelong careers in theatre, film and television. Yes, the conservatory classes are taught by professionals in their field, who bring considerable and varied experience and expertise to the training. Yes. A transfer student may apply and audition for the program, but will enter as a freshman, and must complete four years of training. Acting credits from other schools are not accepted for transfer as professional credits. Liberal Arts credits may be transferred with the approval of the Registrar’s office. No. The rigorous requirements of the BFA training program do not leave enough room in the schedule to double major. No. Training and productions in the BFA program are dramatic in nature. Not during the Fall or Spring semesters. The sequential requirements of the program do not allow for a semester abroad. Study abroad programs are available and may be considered during the winter and summer breaks. No. We require all students to be present for all classes during the academic year.
Auditions
If selected for a callback audition, you will be in the room for approximately 15 minutes, and will then be free to leave. Please arrive slightly early to check in for your appointment, but please note that there is limited space to warm up, and in NYC, limited waiting-area seating.
keep reading FAQ»Once scheduled, audition times are considered final and can rarely be rescheduled; this is done on a case by case basis at the discretion of the Conservatory. To notify us of a cancellation, email acting.auditions@purchase.edu as soon as possible. As a reminder, the $50 audition fee is non-refundable.
keep reading FAQ»Should inclement weather be forecast, we will communicate with you via email. Please do not call the office. Adding a new audition date is unlikely, but in the event of a storm or dangerous traveling conditions, we will make every effort to reschedule your appointment for another date.
keep reading FAQ»Walk-ins will be accommodated at our New York City auditions only as our schedule permits. Walk-ins must pay the audition fee onsite, and have a hard copy of their headshot and resume with them.
