Jazz Institute Concert
Friday afternoon, July 17

The Jazz Institute is an intensive,
performance-driven week for
serious students and practitioners of jazz, ages 14–18. It is a great opportunity to:

  • learn from inspired faculty and accomplished musicians
  • improve your skills
  • meet others who share your passion for jazz
  • develop audition techniques useful for college entrance auditions and professionally

The faculty includes esteemed performers representing many facets of the jazz world. The program enrolls students; accepted through a recorded audition review process.

A typical day will include two daily ensemble (small group) rehearsals, independent instruction through master classes, and specialized seminars and performances. Daily faculty jam sessions allow you to see professionals in action and understand the nuances of jazz performance. A trip to a New York City jazz club lets you experience jazz in one of the greatest cities in the world. The Institute concludes with a final, videotaped concert for family and friends on Friday afternoon, July 17. A souvenir DVD of the concert is provided to each participant.
