Summer Session
The academic calendar for summer sessions is determined by the School of Liberal Studies & Continuing Education (LS&CE) and published by March each year on the LS&CE site.

Academic year 2010–11 at a glance:

  • Fall 2010 classes: Mon., Aug. 30–Fri., Dec. 17, 2010
  • Spring 2011 classes: Wed., Jan. 26–Tues., May 17, 2011
  • Commencement: Fri., May 20, 2011
  • Class holidays:
    1. Labor Day: Mon., Sept. 6, 2010
    2. Yom Kippur (begins at sundown Fri., Sept. 17): No classes Sat., Sept. 18
    3. Election Day: Tues., Nov. 2, 2010 (no classes)
    4. Thanksgiving Recess: Wed., Nov. 24 through Sun., Nov. 28, 2010 (no classes)
    5. Winter Break: Sat., Dec. 18, 2010–Tues., Jan. 25, 2011
    6. Spring Recess: Sat., March 26 through Sun., April 3 (no classes)

Please note:

  • The hours of in-person registration and add/drop for the Fall and Spring semesters are circulated in advance to the campus community by the Office of the Registrar.
  • Add/drop period:
    Students are responsible for absences and any coursework missed during the add/drop period. Before adding any course, students are advised to check with the individual faculty member to ensure that they can make up any missed coursework.
  • Attendance on religious holidays:
    Please refer to College Policies for guidelines.
  • Some offices may close on holidays when classes are in session.
  • In Fall 2010, Rosh Hashanah, Columbus Day, and Veterans Day are not official class holidays. In Spring 2011, President’s Day, Passover, and Good Friday are not official class holidays.
