Description: The Neuberger Museum of Art (www.neuberger.org) seeks a dynamic individual to provide programmatic and administrative leadership to its exhibitions department, which involves curatorial, registration, exhibition design and installation functions. Just 35 minutes from midtown Manhattan, the Neuberger is Westchester County's leading museum of modern, contemporary and African art. Working in dialogue with the Neuberger's director, the chief curator/deputy director will shape a diverse, balanced exhibition schedule; conceive and curate innovative and academically rigorous exhibitions of modern and contemporary art; oversee development and management of the permanent collection; coordinate publications; manage touring exhibitions; maintain and strengthen the Museum’s regional, national and international professional networks; collaborate with other Purchase College departments to encourage interdisciplinary activity; oversee all administrative, financial and personnel matters of the exhibitions department; work in collegial and collaborative manner with peers in education, development, finance, marketing, public relations and visitors services; and cultivate strong community ties on campus and beyond.
The ideal candidate will have at least three years of relevant senior curatorial experience and will possess a graduate degree in art history, curatorial studies or a related field.
