Mission Statement
The Instructional Technology Center (ITC), located on the main floor of the Library, is dedicated to providing support for faculty members at Purchase College as they learn about and adopt new instructional technologies into their teaching. Our mission includes working directly with the faculty to develop basic and more advanced computer skills; maintaining and supporting Web-based systems that enrich teaching and learning; and training faculty in the effective use of the Library's electronic resources. ITC staff work to support and enrich the pedagogy of every classroom on campus, including those in the liberal, performing, and visual arts. We are also committed to seeking external funding for new faculty initiatives that center around instructional technology.
Current ITC initiatives include:
The Instructional Technology Advisory Committee (ITAC)
A faculty committee, the Instructional Technology Advisory Committee (iTAC), is charged with reviewing and developing instructional technology projects and priorities, including the acquisition of pedagogically focused electronic resources by the Library. For 2007-2008, the committee is chaired by Professor Joanne Tillotson, NSS.
Formed in 2002, ITAC has coordinated the Academic Computing Replacement Cycle. Each year, proposals are solicitred from all acadmeic divisions. These proposals are evaluated, discussed, and prioritized. Available technology funding is then allocated to the prioritized projects. Priority is given to keeping all academic computing facilities on a three-year replacement cycle for workstations, but new projects are also considered.
