Purchase College actively supports the development of children and teenagers in surrounding communities and nationally through its highly popular Youth and Precollege Programs in the Arts. 

Summer 2009 programs feature:

• New! Precollege Programs in Photography, Filmmaking, Theatre, and Shakespeare, in addition to the Jazz and Visual Arts Institutes for high school students planning to pursue the arts on the college level. Precollege programs offer audition technique training and portfolio/performance building opportunities as well as critiques. Certification letters are earned based on participation and attendance.
   
  
• New! Young Writers and Journalism Precollege Programs for those with an interest in writing.
   
  
• New! Longer days: All commuter programs run from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily
  Early drop-off begins at 8:00 a.m.
  Extended day is available Monday through Friday until 6:00 p.m.

Fall 2009 programs: Sept. 26–Dec. 5

New this fall are Precollege and Youth Programs in the visual arts, filmmaking, photography, journalism, and creative writing. An extension of the highly popular summer programs, the fall and spring courses give students the opportunity to pursue their interests and passions during the school year. These programs meet on Saturdays, 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., Sept. 26–Dec. 5. There are no classes on Oct. 10 and Nov. 28.
